To News: Some Suntan Lotion Could Make You Flunk Drug Test May 4, 2004, CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M.-- Fail a drug test? Blame the suntan lotion. Officials at Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico are warning against tanning products that contain hemp oil. Hemp comes from the marijuana plant and may contain trace amounts of THC, the stuff that gives pot its high. While the suntan oils won't get anyone stoned, base officials say the hemp byproducts could be enough to cause someone to flunk a drug test. An article in the base newspaper also cautions that drug-sniffing dogs might be attracted by the hemp oil tanning products. The warning was prompted by a base official, who noticed hemp oil lotions for sale in area tanning salons. |
